Bocchus of Mauretania
Tarot glossary
Bocchus was a king of Mauretania who surrendered his son-in-law Jugurtha to the Romans after negotiation with Sulla. Later accounts made the act a memorable example of betrayal and political calculation. Brera connects BOCHO with this king and reconstructs the card as the Traitor. It explicitly does not assign Death to this trump.
