Card of the day
Tarot glossary · also daily card, daily draw
A card of the day is the simplest tarot practice: shuffle, draw one card, and keep it in mind for the day. In the evening you look again and note what it brought to the surface. Because it takes a minute and gives you all 78 cards in turn, it is the most common way to learn them, and many readers keep a tarot journal alongside it. Some ask a set question, such as what to pay attention to today; others draw without one. It is a modern habit rather than an old tradition. A common worry is drawing a hard card such as The Tower; most guides read it as a change to prepare for, not a disaster. See daily tarot practice.
