Hermes Trismegistus
Tarot glossary
Hermes Trismegistus is a legendary sage formed by combining the Greek Hermes with the Egyptian Thoth. Texts attributed to him became central to Renaissance Hermetic thought. Brera compares the turbaned head on the Sola Busca Ten of Cups with a portrait of Hermes in Secretum secretorum. The resemblance is presented as probable, not certain.
